DEMON: … honor his promise.

JOHN: How do you know?

DEMON: I have my own ways.

[THE DEMON CHUCKLES]

DEMON (cont’d) Oh, John, you cheeky little man.

JOHN: What?

[JOHN COUGHS LIGHTLY]

DEMON You’re smarter than I thought. Good job!

JOHN What are you talking about?

DEMON I thought you were just hunting lesser demons blindly, but now I see that you actually understand us. That’s… new. Refreshing.

JOHN I’m not hunting blindly. And I’m not just after lesser demons. I would have come after you if I knew you really existed.

DEMON Oh, that’s adorable! Thinking you can even find any trace of a creature like me!

Creature like me?

Is she not a demon at all?

[JOHN COUGHS LIGHTLY]

DEMON (cont’d) You figured it out. Figured me out. You realized the game is meaningless to me if you’re not begging and crying at my feet to stop. Oh how I would have enjoyed torturing you in hell.

JOHN How do you know he’s not going to keep his promise? What happens now?

DEMON Because there was no promise to keep. It was all just a misunderstanding. Lucifer asked for something, and he said “fine”, and Lucifer thought that meant there was a promise, a deal. There never was one.

JOHN Why are you telling me all this?

DEMON Hmmm, I don’t know. Maybe because nothing matters to me anymore. I won’t be here to face the consequences.

JOHN Why are you dying? What happened to you?

DEMON Nothing happened to me. I chose this.

JOHN But why? Why now? You've been alive for… an eternity.

DEMON Let’s just say… things are about to get ugly, and I don’t want to have any part in it. Because when that happe-

[THE TAPE WARPS AND THE SOUND DISTORTS – PART OF THE CONVERSATION IS MISSING]

JOHN … I be saved?

DEMON You called someone, didn’t you? To come to your rescue, when you were fighting those demons you were hunting?

JOHN Yes.

DEMON Well, that’s it. I imagine they got there after you died, and now they’re trying to take you back to life.

JOHN Has this… always been a thing? Have other people been brought back to life?

DEMON Yes and yes. But most of them have no memory of this place. And those that do, usually choose not to talk about it. Because even when they try to talk about it, you don’t believe them.

JOHN Will I remember this?

DEMON Who knows. Probably not.

JOHN Is that why you’re speaking so freely with me?

DEMON No John, I already told you. I don’t care anymore. I tore the veil but there’s nothing after this for me. I’m not getting punished. I was just bored, and you were here, and you wouldn’t stop asking questions.

The veil?

What is this veil? Why/how did she tear it?

[SOUND DISTORTION. MOANING AND CRYING FROM A DISTANCE.]

JOHN …speak our language?

DEMON (laughs out loud) Is that really what you want to ask me? When we're running out of time?

JOHN I want to know everything I can.

DEMON Well, you humans are not as special as you think you are, you know? We can imitate any speech we want. Takes a mere few minutes. 

[JOHN GROANS. CHAIR SCRAPING ON CONCRETE.]

Is the physical body present there?

Pain coming back? Do physical feelings leave the body in the place between?

DEMON (cont’d) I’m afraid it’s time for you to go, John. 

[JOHN TAKES A DEEP BREATH AND MOANS IN PAIN]

DEMON (cont'd) Good luck. I hope you remember this.

There are no more documents of any kind from Jonathan Palmer regarding this meeting. It is safe to assume he did not come back with any memories.

There are crucial parts of this conversation that are unfortunately missing. Due to the death of both parties involved, there's no way of knowing the contents of the missing parts.

It is believed that Naauha was aware of the calamity and that’s what she was trying to warn Jonathan about. 

Unless there’s something more going on that we have no information on, it is safe to assume the “he” that didn’t keep his promise to Lucifer, is god. No more information is at hand at the time of recording this document.
